Pathway, a dynamic virtual production studio based in Manchester, is seeking a talented and adaptable VP Junior Technical Artist to join our team. As a VP Junior Technical Artist at Pathway, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including advertising campaigns, feature films, and high-end television productions. Your expertise in Nuke, Houdini, and Unreal Engine 5 will play a vital role in creating immersive and visually stunning experiences.
Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the Technical Art Director and other team members to create and implement visual effects and art pipelines for virtual production projects.
Assist in developing and maintaining technical art workflows, tools, and documentation to enhance the efficiency and quality of production processes.
Utilize Nuke, Houdini, and Unreal Engine 5 to create and integrate visual effects, lighting setups, shaders, and other technical art elements into virtual production scenes.
Support the art and production teams by troubleshooting technical issues related to visual effects, lighting, rendering, and asset integration.
Work closely with artists, animators, and designers to ensure seamless integration of technical art elements into the project's overall visual aesthetic.
Stay up to date with industry trends, software advancements, and emerging techniques related to technical art and virtual production.
Assist in optimizing art assets and workflows for real-time rendering and performance optimization within Unreal Engine 5.
Collaborate with the development team to provide feedback and contribute to the improvement of virtual production tools and technologies.
Participate in technical discussions and contribute innovative ideas to enhance the overall visual quality and efficiency of virtual production projects.
Requirements
Proven experience in a similar role within the virtual production, gaming, or visual effects industry.
Proficiency in Nuke, Houdini, and Unreal Engine 5, with a strong understanding of their respective workflows and capabilities.
Solid understanding of visual effects, lighting, shading, and rendering techniques.
Familiarity with real-time rendering technologies, materials, and shaders within Unreal Engine 5.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve technical challenges related to virtual production pipelines.
Ability to adapt to different project requirements and work collaboratively within a team environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical team members.
A passion for pushing the boundaries of virtual production, technical art, and immersive storytelling.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, game development, visual effects, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
